Prince Caspian

Margaret

Reading the Times the other day saw an interesting article about storytelling. The author was discussing the new film “Prince Caspian” an adaptation of the C. S. Lewis book from the Narnia Chronicles. The article struck a chord, to quote “words do stuff that pictures never can, they allow readers to make their own movies and the imagination does the special effects”. That’s exactly the premise Zynia works on; stories are a powerful learning tool. When I use the story ‘Isn’t it wonderful when people surprise you’, I love to watch the listeners’ faces as their imagination fills in the picture and the lovely thing is everyone’s picture will be slightly different as they supply their own characters, making the story valuable for a group, but equally valuable to all the individuals listening to it.
