Two weeks ago I ran a 2-day Training of Trainers workshop in Syria. This was for Syrian Nationals who are training to deliver HR related subjects.
We covered the trainer’s role, how people learn, training aids and evaluating training. Each participant was asked to prepare a 20 minute training session to be delivered to and critically assessed by their fellow participants. Zynia trigger stories from the Change Pack were used to illustrate an audio training aid. Today, one of the participants started his session with “let me tell you a story”. He proceeded to use this story to explain how change and continuous development worked for his friend who had started a car rental company. He stopped at pre-planned points to get audience participation, and to run a short discussion group. The power of story really served to make not only the presentation, but also the interaction work. More power to story telling.
The Zynia Change pack has many such stories that can be used in similar ways to energise, enliven and enrich the learning process.
