42 - the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything ?

Listening to the arguments about 42 days and terrorism lately I couldn’t help smiling. All I could think of was “The Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”; 42 was the answer to life the universe and everything – perhaps that’s where the politicians got the number from?

Never mind that; for me it just proves how much more memorable stories are, people will still remember Marvin, the paranoid android long after they’ve forgotten Gordon Brown et al. If you want to get a point across in a memorable way use a story, Zynia’s hard hitting “Neighbours from Hell” is certainly not easily forgotten and it brings the whole issue of discrimination, and how we treat others, alive far better than a parliamentary debate.
