The background to storytelling
Stories are as old as time, they go back to our origins – native American, Celtic, Biblical, fables and mythological; they’ve been helping us to make sense of a complex world forever and Telling Tales builds on this basic human psychological need to analyse and understand. This age old tradition of using stories and anecdotes to engage people is proven to transfer knowledge or inspire them to act, indeed most of the fairy tales we tell our children were originally intended for an adult audience to communicate morals about how life should be lived.
Organisational Storytelling
Companies can use their success stories to train and motivate their teams. IBM are currently running a research project exploring how stories can be included in knowledge management for a large organisation, and how the organisation can support and enhance their use.
